URBAN HEALTH & FOOD INITIATIVE

Garden_pic.jpg

The Urban Health & food initiative is a program designed to address communities such as ours that have been designated as food deserts.

A food desert is a low-income census tract where either a substantial number or share of residents has low access to a supermarket or large grocery store. This initiative seeks to provide fresh food thru our local community garden and food partners while also educating residents on the benefits of a diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables.
